The Lynx Trio Continues to Win, Mystics Win Again, August 19th WNBA Recap
The first of two games tonight was between the Toronto Tempo and the Washington Mystics. Through the first quarter, the Mystics led 19-12. Then the Tempo responded to take a 21-20 lead with 1:36 left in the first quarter. The quarter ended 25-24 in favor of the Mystics. The second quarter was the deciding quarter in this game. The Mystics started the quarter on a 12-0 run before the Tempo scored. Then the Mystics extended their lead to 14, and they led 47-33 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Tempo managed to cut the lead into single digits multiple times, but the Mystics always responded.
The Mystics led 69-56 heading into the fourth quarter. Around halfway into the fourth quarter, the Mystics bumped their lead up to 18, and by then this game was over. The Tempo managed to cut the lead to single digits, but the Mystics won 93-82. Another day, another good game from Kiki Iriafen, as she had 21 points and 13 rebounds. KiKi Rice showed up for the Tempo with her 19 points.

The second game of the day was between the Minnesota Lynx and the Golden State Valkyries. This game started competitively; the Lynx led 10-9 at the 4:35 mark in the first quarter. Then, within the next two minutes, the Lynx lead bounced to 6 thanks to Napheesa Collier. Then the first quarter ended 21-13 in favor of the Lynx. The lead went to 15 within a minute and a half of the quarter starting. From that point, the lead was always between 14-19 for the rest of the quarter; the Lynx led 41-26 at halftime.
Not much changed in the third quarter, aside from the Valkyries narrowing the lead to 10 a few times, and they trailed 54-41 at the end of the third quarter. The Valkyries managed to shrink the lead to single digits, but Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride iced this game, and the Lynx won 77-66. The Lynx trio of Olivia Miles (20 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds), Kayla McBride (20 points), and Napheesa Collier (18 points and 8 rebounds) ruled the court last night.

Thursday night brings us three games. The lone 8 pm EST game is the Dallas Wings hosting the Indiana Fever. The two 10 pm EST games are between the Connecticut Sun at the Las Vegas Aces and the Atlanta Dream at the Los Angeles Sparks.
