Zandalasini, Williams lead the way as the Golden State Valkyries beat Liberty on the road.
The first game of the night was between the Golden State Valkyries (27-11) and the New York Liberty (23-15). The Valkyries started strong, going on an 11-4 run to start the game. The Liberty responded with nine straight points, taking the 15-13 lead at the 3:28 mark. Two baskets from Kalia Charles in the final minute put the Valkyries up 21-19 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter started back and forth. The Valkyries saw Cecilia Zandalasini give them five points, extending the lead to 29-23 at the 6:12 mark. Both teams went scoreless for two minutes after the Zandalasini three, until Gabby Williams hit a three, extending the Valkyries' lead to 32-23. Threes from Cecilia Zandalasini and Tiffany Hayes put the Valkyries up 42-30 at halftime.
The Valkyries quickly darted out to a 51-34 lead by the 6:17 mark. The Liberty brought the lead down to 10, but the Valkyries remained solid and held a 10 or more-point lead for the rest of the quarter and led 59-47 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Valkyries extended the lead to 65-47 by the eight-minute mark. The Valkyries kept on matching every make the Liberty made. By the 3:13 mark, the Valkyries led by 76-59. The Valkyries won 79-60.
Cecilia Zandalasini scored 20 points and five rebounds, Gabby Williams added 16 points and four rebounds, and Tiffany Hayes added 12 points off the bench. Next up for the Valkyries is going on the road to the Portland Fire on Sunday.
Jonquel Jones led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds while Breanna Stewart had 16 points and six rebounds. A quiet day from the Liberty. Next up for the Liberty is hosting the Chicago Sky on Saturday.
