Houston Dash Win Late, August 16th NWSL Recap
The first of two games was between the Houston Dash and the North Carolina Courage. Both teams had spectacular chances on goal, and none went in until the 37th minute. In the 37th minute, Ally Schlegel took her chance from the center of the box and made it 1-0 in favor of the NC Courage. Five minutes later, the Dash equalized right before halftime thanks to Kate Faasse. Out of the half, NC Courage took the advantage again as Ally Schlegel assisted Evelyn Ijeh in the 53rd minute.
After that goal by the Courage, the Dash had multiple opportunities until the 80th minute, when Clarissa Larisey scored the equalizer, thanks to an assist by Avery Patterson. Then, in the 93rd minute, Clarissa Larisey got her brace and the winner with time counting down. Stats were fairly equal, minus NC Courage having a 2.74 EG, so they will feel they should have won this game.
The second game of the day was between Angel City FC and the Washington Spirit. Angel City had many shots early but nothing. Then it turned to the Spirit getting many shots but nothing. In the 37th minute, Ally Sentnor scored for Angel City, but the goal was overturned by VAR. A few more shots led to no goals until half. Same way for the first twenty minutes after the halftime break. Trinity Rodman scored for the Washington Spirit and gave them the lead.
After multiple corners and multiple shots, Angel City finally equalized in the 85th minute. Ally Sentnor gave them the equalizer off a good pass from Savy King, who was subbed on right after the Rodman goal. Both teams had a few more chances, but the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Stats say the Washington Spirit should probably have won this game.
There are no more games until Wednesday night, as Racing Louisville FC hosts Seattle Reign FC at 6:30 pm EST. And at 8 pm EST, the Houston Dash hosts Chicago Stars FC.
