Miles and Wilson Show Out, Liberty and Mystics Win, August 15th WNBA Recap
The first game of the day was between the New York Liberty and the Connecticut Sun. The Sun took an early advantage and controlled the first quarter, outscoring the Liberty 27-19. Then Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones had good second quarters as the Liberty led 46-37. The third quarter was won by the Sun as they shrunk the lead to 5 (61-56).
The Liberty rode out the fourth quarter, controlled it, and won 82-75. A big day from Jonquel Jones (23 points and 11 rebounds) helped the Liberty win. Marine Johannes (17 points and five assists) and Breanna Stewart (11 points and four rebounds) also did their parts. Olivia Nelson-Ododa (21 points and ten rebounds) did her part to keep the Sun competitive in this game.

The second game of the day was between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Washington Mystics. A hot start from Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron gave the Mystics a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter (24-21). The Sparks took the lead early in the second quarter, and then the Mystics went ahead, leading 41-39 at halftime. Sparks had a hot start out of the break, as they had an 8-0 run. Then they ended up winning the quarter by 5 and leading the game headed into the fourth.
Sonia Citron and Shakira Austin came up huge in the fourth quarter, leading the Mystics to an 80-70 win. Sonia Citron led scoring with 21 points as Shakira Austin had 19 points, and Kiki Iriafen ended with 17 points. It was another 20-point-or-more game for Rae Burrell.

The third game of the night was between the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces. The game started back and forth, with the stars like A'ja Wilson and Olivia Miles starting quickly. The Lynx led 23-19 at the end of the first. The second quarter was like the first, but this time the Aces outscored the Lynx by 4 to tie the game at the half. The third quarter was the first quarter where you could tell who the better team was. The Lynx took over and outscored the Aces by 10.
The Aces managed to cut the lead to one around halfway through the fourth quarter, but the Lynx managed to win by 5, 92-87. Every player who scored for the Lynx scored in double digits, led by Olivia Miles with 23 points and five assists, and Napheesa Collier had 19 points and six rebounds. On the other side, A'ja Wilson led all scorers with 32 points and seven rebounds.

Sunday brings up three games tonight. First up, the Chicago Sky go to the West Coast to take on the Seattle Storm at 5 pm EST. At the same time out East, the Indiana Fever travel south to take on the Atlanta Dream. And at 7 pm EST, we head back West, as the Portland Fire go South to take on the Phoenix Mercury.
