The Washington Mystics pull out a win against the Fire
The Portland Fire (15-21) hosted the Washington Mystics (21-15). The first quarter saw the Fire take a 12-2 lead by the 6:30 mark. Then the Mystics went on a 9-2 run to close the gap to 14-11. The Fire led 23-18 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Fire extend their lead to 12, just for the Mystics to cut it to 1 by the 4:17 mark. The halftime score was the Fire leading 49-47.

The third quarter brought us another competitive quarter, with the likes of Carla Leite and Emily Engstler showing up quickly. It is probably time to bring up Shakira Austin on the Mystics side; she was the best player in this game. The Portland Fire led 70-65 at the end of the third quarter.
Now it's time to talk about Shakira Austin. Austin scored three straight baskets to start the fourth quarter, which helped the Mystics tie this game at 78 with 6:43 left. From that point forward, the Mystics controlled the lead and held on to win 105-100 behind clutch free throws from Shakira Austin and Georgia Amoore.

Shakira Austin led the scoring with 31 points, while also getting ten rebounds. Kiki Iriafen (18 points and ten rebounds), Sonia Citron (14 points and six assists), Georgia Amoore (13 points), and Cotire McMahon (13 points and four assists) also scored in double digits. Next up for the Mystics is heading out to play at the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday night.
The Fire had superb games from Carla Leite (27 points and 11 assists), Emily Engstler (23 points and six rebounds), Megan DiLeo (21 points and three rebounds), and Bridget Carleton (18 points, five assists, and five steals). Next up for the Fire is traveling to the Dallas Wings on Tuesday night.
