The Indiana Fever used a dominant second quarter to pull away and win against the Sun

The first of two 7:30 pm EST games is between the Connecticut Sun (10-28) and the Indiana Fever (25-14). The first quarter was back-and-forth, with the Sun leading 13-9 at the 6:39 mark. An 8-0 run saw the Sun take a 24-12 lead at 2:52. The Sun led 28-19 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started with a 10-2 run by the Fever to cut the lead down to 30-29.


Over the next minute, the Sun scored four straight, and the Fever scored five straight; the score is tied at 34. It was a back-and-forth game over the next two minutes; the score was tied at 41 at the four-minute mark. Unfortunately for the Sun, the Fever found their spark and went on a 16-0 run behind the likes of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. The Fever led 58-43 at halftime after outscoring the Sun 39-15 in the second quarter. Caitlin Clark has 18 points, Kelsey Mitchell has 17 points, and Diamond Miller has 17 points at halftime.

The third quarter started with the Sun being the better team, outscoring the Fever 12-8 over the first four and a half minutes. After that, the Fever went on a 9-0 run that made the Sun call a timeout; the Fever led 76-57. The Sun closed the quarter on a 10-3 run, to only trail 79-66 at the end of the third quarter.


The fourth quarter brought us consistent scoring between both teams. At the 4:39 mark, the Fever lead 93-82. The game was never any closer than that score. The Fever went on an 11-0 run to push the lead to 109-86 with 1:39 left. The Fever won 111-91.


Caitlin Clark had 34 points, 12 assists, and five rebounds on 12-19 shooting. Kelsey Mitchell 34 points and four assists on 12-19 shooting. Aaliyah Boston had 14 points to cap out a great night for the Fever. Next up for the Fever is playing at the Toronto Tempo.


Diamond Miller had 19 points. Nell Angloma had 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Aaliyah Edwards and Hailey Van Lith each scored 12 points. Next up for the Sun is playing at the Dallas Wings on Sunday night.
