Three Atlanta Dream Players score 20, August 10th WNBA Recap
The first of two games on August 10th was between the Atlanta Dream and the Toronto Tempo. Through the first quarter, this game looked like it was going to be a competitive game, and then a little bit after halfway through the second quarter, the Dream started to pull away and did not look back. The Tempo started getting closer at the end of the third quarter and the fourth quarter but never got within striking distance.
The Dream won this game 107-95, thanks to multiple 20-point performances from their stars. Angel Reese (20 points, 14 rebounds), Jordin Canada (20 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds), and Rhyne Howard (22 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 6-11 from three). You have to give a big shoutout to Tempo's Marina Mabrey; she had 36 points and three assists on 12-19 shooting from the field and 7-13 from three. Even Tempo's KiKi Rice had 18 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
On to the second game between the Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm. The game until close to halftime was around a four-point lead for the Storm until the Storm had a 14-point lead at halftime. The lead was in double digits until around eight minutes left in the game, when the Sky got the score down to a six-point deficit.
Even down to a two-point deficit at the 2:52 mark in the fourth quarter, the Storm just took control down the stretch and won this game 97-88. A big day from Dominique Malonga; she had 26 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Add in good games from Natisha Hiedeman (18 points, 9 assists) and Zia Cooke (16 points).
Tonight will bring us three more games. You will start the night with the New York Liberty playing at the Indiana Fever and end the night with the Washington Mystics playing at the Las Vegas Aces, and the Phoenix Mercury playing at the Los Angeles Sparks. Will be another good night of WNBA action.
