Phoenix Mercury demolishes injury-riddled Toronto Tempo by 32

The second and final game of the day was between the Phoenix Mercury (13-26) and the Toronto Tempo (11-28). The first quarter started with a 12-2 run by the Mercury over the first four minutes. The Mercury consistently kept the lead at 10 throughout the whole quarter and led 27-17 at the end of the first quarter.


The Tempo started the quarter with fight, only trailing 32-26 at the 6:25 mark. After that, the Mercury went on a 12-2 run, extending their lead to 44-28. The Mercury's lead just kept on growing; they led 58-35 at halftime.

The third quarter started horribly for the Tempo. The Mercury lead grew to 30, and they only scored four points in the first five minutes. By the end of the third quarter, the Mercury led 88-49. The Mercury controlled the fourth quarter and won 101-69.


The Mercury had Noemie Brochant and Shay Ciezki each score 15 points, while Sami Whitcomb, Marta Suarez, Maddy Westbeld, and Lexi Held all scored in double digits. A very well-balanced win for the Mercury. The Mercury are done until September 17th, when they play at the Portland Fire.


The injury-riddled Toronto Tempo were led by Isabelle Harrison, who scored 16 points and had ten rebounds. Kiki Rice also had 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds. The Tempo are also done until after the FIBA World Cup, as they host the Indiana Fever on September 18th.
