The Sparks fly by the Storm, behind a double-double from Nneka Ogwumike

The second game of the day was between the Seattle Storm and the Los Angeles Sparks. The Sparks started hot and went up 13-0 for almost the whole first five minutes. They were up 18-2 at the 3:22 mark. The Storm finally started scoring and trailed 25-11 at the end of the first quarter.


Over the first minute and a half, the Storm went on a 9-3 run to cut the lead to 28-20. The Sparks went on their own 11-0 run and grew their lead to 39-20. The Sparks led 52-33 at halftime.

The Sparks grew their lead to more than 24 points multiple times in the third quarter, but the Storm trailed 70-52 at the end of the third quarter. The Storm trailed 72-62 at the 7:02 mark. That was the closest they got, as the Sparks had the lead back to 20 by the 2:26 mark. The final score ended up being 90-74.


Nnega Ogwumike led scoring with 23 points and had 12 rebounds. Rae Burrell brought in 22 points, four assists, and three rebounds. Cameron Brink had 11 points and six rebounds. The Sparks will play at the Dallas Wings on September 17th.


Flau'jae Johnson led scoring for the Storm with 19 points. Dominique Malonga had 17 points and 15 rebounds. Zia Cooke gave 14 points off the bench. After the break, the Storm will host the Las Vegas Aces on September 17th.
